Clint:
At the end of 1999, I was confronted with the knowledge that the only possible way to propose to my girlfriend would be to write a song for her... and if I wasn't able to write the song I was going to have a very serious problem.

It turned out to be the easiest thing I've ever done; I sat down to try writing the song at 7pm one night, and by 10pm it was finished. I just knew exactly how it went immediately.

The day after that I drove from North Branch to Ann Arbor and met with Bob, and we recorded the song - him with the changes on a piece of paper taped to the wall in front of him. I stayed up basically all night mixing it down, and then I drove up to East Lansing to play it for her.

I guess she liked it okay, the answer to the question at the end was yes.

Is that too personal? Maybe I shouldn't talk about the stories behind these songs.
