about
Clint:
I have literally no recollection of recording this tune, though I do remember writing it, in our dorm across the street from the MSU Union.
It seems to me that we made the attempt to make it a b-side for the "Blizzard" single but it didn't turn out that great (along with one of the many versions of "Big Mistake" that we did).
lyrics
so you've got equations
and you say you've been at it
all night thinking about
thermodynamics
we should all go out
and play out in traffic
because the world's total love
is finite and static
who ever gets what they deserve?
a girl for every boy
and a boy for every girl
i said the first law doesn't apply
to physical attractions
baby so tell me now how come
we always hesitate
and never take action when
both parties benefit
from every transaction?
who ever gets what they deserve?
a girl for every boy
and a boy for every girl
you said:
"enough just isn't enough"
now you're taking the fifth
and i'm taking the short bus
i go out with you and return diminished
i haven't begun
you say i'm already finished
so you've got equations
and you've done all the math
but you're thinking too hard
you're too clever by half
this doesn't have to be a brainteaser drama
baby you know it's just simple economics
who ever gets what they deserve?
a girl for every boy
and a boy for every girl
a boy for every girl
a boy for every girl
a boy for every girl
for there first album they kick fucking ass with it the only song i have to complain about is be born besides that everything in this album is gold even released just a friend with it shunterfunny
Released in 2001, “The Convincer” is a gentle gem in the Nick Lowe catalog; an anniversary edition provides opportunity for rediscovery. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 20, 2021
